Grace Lee Boggs, an American revolutionary, defined true wealth as the ability to relate to other human beings. In the pursuit of true wealth, I broke free from conventional figurative painting into figurative abstraction addressing the fluidity of personhood and the oneness of humanity.

In the pursuit of true wealth, I broke free from conventional figurative painting into figurative abstraction addressing the fluidity of personhood and the oneness of humanity. The non-identity of the figure allows it to be personally personified by the viewer. All of it, meaning who the figure BE, depends on projection. This surrender of personal narrative unto the uninformed opinion of the masses is synonymous to my every day in America. My hope is that the non-identity of my figure supports the ripple that erodes, dismantle the failures of social constructs built by colonial justice.

I love everything full of color and life! My background is in the arts, specifically studio art and art history. With an experienced eye for design and color, I love to create work that is visually captivating and unique. I am a graphic designer and painter, but with careful thought they go hand in hand. My art is painted with intent, delivering pieces that I hope give the viewer the comfort of structure, along with the emotional release of abstraction.

Under the soil, or in the shadows is often where brilliant and beautiful things begin. The origin story of ceramics goes something like this: anthropologists believe clay’s unique properties were discovered by smearing wet clay on the inside of a basket to waterproof it, which was then placed over a fire. It became a hard and permanent stone-like shell of the initial vessel. To me, this is not unlike birds building nests, adding clay to strengthen and shape their vessels/architecture.

On my first visit to Mexico I attended a traditional dinner including mariachis, dancers and home cooked food. At the venue this building sat empty. I found it very interesting.
