Fixation on the 1/3’s of life (learning, doing, sharing), reflecting on the closing of one chapter and the beginning of the next with an upcoming adventure in Peru. Inspired by the intersections of design and art… pushing the ideas of collaboration with grid and guides into art.

I fancy myself an explorer of possibility, the author of my own ritual, and maker from my day dreams. I was reborn in the mountains of Peru. That is where my name change originates. As Luke became Luc… I haven’t formally changed my name but for now choose LucLuke as my art identity. I want my work to be seen like fluxus focused on impact driven purpose.

I love everything full of color and life! My background is in the arts, specifically studio art and art history. With an experienced eye for design and color, I love to create work that is visually captivating and unique. I am a graphic designer and painter, but with careful thought they go hand in hand. My art is painted with intent, delivering pieces that I hope give the viewer the comfort of structure, along with the emotional release of abstraction.

Under the soil, or in the shadows is often where brilliant and beautiful things begin. The origin story of ceramics goes something like this: anthropologists believe clay’s unique properties were discovered by smearing wet clay on the inside of a basket to waterproof it, which was then placed over a fire. It became a hard and permanent stone-like shell of the initial vessel. To me, this is not unlike birds building nests, adding clay to strengthen and shape their vessels/architecture.

On my first visit to Mexico I attended a traditional dinner including mariachis, dancers and home cooked food. At the venue this building sat empty. I found it very interesting.
I am a spunky 70-something artist and lifelong learner living in Omaha, Nebraska. Throughout my life I have dabbled in many different forms of creativity. I like to try new things and familiarize myself with a broader range of mediums. Photography, acrylic, oil, pencil/graphite and mixed media are all in my wheelhouse.

This little cowboy was part of a fundraising event for a dance group in Mexico. The dancers wear traditional clothing and learn traditional dances.
