Rachael Sikes
My name is Rachael Sikes, I am a Omaha native, I grew up in Omaha from 8 months old to 13 years then my parents moved me away to Texas, and in my adult age moved back to my Omaha roots. I have been a self taught artist most of my life, and received some art training in a couple semesters at a public highschool art class and 1 semester at a public college. In 2016 I placed 1st in the congressional art competition, representing CD1 Texas over tens of thousands of other students and my art was displayed in the U.S. Capital for a year. As well as various other art awards (VASE, Kilgore art symposium, Longview Art Awards, etc.) My biggest inspiration in my work is God and people, my faith is a big part of my life and it pours through in my art. I tend to lean on the realism spectrum, though I have a deep appreciation for all art, and I love streching myself to work with different mediums, because I did just do acrylic for a while and as I’ve been streching into oil, then watercolor I feel myself growing.
