I am a spunky 70-something artist and lifelong learner living in Omaha, Nebraska. Throughout my life I have dabbled in many different forms of creativity. I like to try new things and familiarize myself with a broader range of mediums. Photography, acrylic, oil, pencil/graphite and mixed media are all in my wheelhouse.
I have always embraced the arts and loved being able to learn and develop creativity early on. In my early years I worked as a hairdresser and was known to have a lot of flair! I am a graduate of The School of Commercial Art and also achieved a Bachelor of Arts in computer graphics. For many years I designed advertising and promotional materials for the telephone directory you may remember as US WEST Direct or Dex Media. I am now retired and loving my time making art.
Floral design and textiles are also interests of mine.
I hope you enjoy browsing my creations!

Creating acrylic paintings, as well as digital and traditional illustrations, I like to use well defined and uniform color pallets with little texture to produce print style paintings. The imagery and phrases I create in my work come from subconscious dreams and passing thoughts. I tend to focus on figurative forms of both humans and animals, exploring multiple concepts including the idea of 'the beauty of suffering.' The concept of accepting embracing the negative, as the positive can not exist without it. I also like to capture philosophical and ethical thought, the concept of choas and nihilism, and feelings of empathy in my art.

I love everything full of color and life! My background is in the arts, specifically studio art and art history. With an experienced eye for design and color, I love to create work that is visually captivating and unique. I am a graphic designer and painter, but with careful thought they go hand in hand. My art is painted with intent, delivering pieces that I hope give the viewer the comfort of structure, along with the emotional release of abstraction. The specific placement of color in a variety of my pieces creates a "graphic-like" feel. When the colors are carefully painted together we can be reminded of a pixelated image on a computer screen. My study and love for Impressionism also is reflected in my art. By overlaying the various mediums in an abstracted way I hope to create a unique and vivid experience for the viewer. The bold colors and impressionistic way of painting is reminiscent of my love for the great impressionist painters that I fell in love with while studying art in school. Bold colors and lots of texture are my two favorite things! - Shiri Phillips

The False Dichotomy of Life, Death & Rebirth

As conscious beings I think many of us have a morbid curiosity towards death and dying. My mother was an end of life care worker, and my grandmother worked in the morgue, so death was never a closed subject. Over the years, I've seen a lot of people who see living and dying as two separate entities, when in reality- we are all living and dying simultaneously. I wanted a piece that conveyed this better than words could. Something that showed the beauty in both life, and death, and how they are one in the same. I'm not claiming to know anything nobody else does, but I find solace in knowing that no matter what else is out there, I cannot fully die because I AM life. I am the child, the womb, and the mother. We know that energy cannot be made or destroyed. So even when I'm no longer in this body, my life will continue to feed the bees and the flowers and the dirt from which I was born, so that they may live too. We are never fully gone, just taken a different form. - Haley Wood

Bill Hoover's art is a dynamic synthesis of both his interior and exterior worlds. Using oil paint, charcoal, graphite, and textures like sand, he builds up his paintings using shapes, colors both muted and bright, and texture till he arrives at a place that is fresh, unpredictable, and meditative.
Grace Lee Boggs, an American revolutionary, defined true wealth as the ability to relate to other human beings. In the pursuit of true wealth, I broke free from conventional figurative painting into figurative abstraction addressing the fluidity of personhood and the oneness of humanity. The non-identity of the figure allows it to be personally personified by the viewer. All of it, meaning who the figure BE, depends on projection. This surrender of personal narrative unto the uninformed opinion of the masses is synonymous to my every day in America. My hope is that the non-identity of my figure supports the ripple that erodes, dismantle the failures of social constructs built by colonial justice.

My name is Monica Mardare, I am originally from Romania but I settled in UK from 2010.
I graduated from the London College of Contemporary Arts with an HND in fashion and textiles and I specialised in Prints and Graphics.
My passion for design, art and fashion reside in my childhood. From the age of about 6 I loved painting, creating garments and accessories.
For me, a life without art is as a bird without wings. Doing art has lots of meanings to me. I paint to express my emotions, I paint my thoughts and I paint memories. I love to paint portraits, and enjoy the black and white genre.
I am currently involved in projects working with art studios, Sutton Women Centre, Sutton Art Network where I teach art workshops together with other artists.
All the projects I am involved in at the moment have a humanitarian cause supporting women who have survived domestic violence, and also people with mental health and learning difficulties. My artwork was presented as part of the Sutton Art Network Exhibition at the Cryer Centre for International Woman's Day this year. Starting with 2020, my art is available on Saatchi online platform as well.

Art as a place for escape. Our created spaces can provide environment for our minds to play. We create the rules, the feel and purposes of the other places.
I fancy myself an explorer of possibility, the author of my own ritual, and maker from my day dreams. I was reborn in the mountains of Peru. That is where my name change originates. As Luke became Luc... I haven't formally changed my name but for now choose LucLuke as my art identity. I want my work to be seen like fluxus focused on impact driven purpose.

My work explores relationships. Whether that is the forms and colors as they interact or the mediums used and the support they are on, it is all about connection and dissolution. Where things and people blend into each other or bend to avoid each other. Where forms are covering or scrapes reveal areas and structures. There are suggestions of landscape and humanish figures, but they are often alienlike; stand-ins for us where we live. The process and exploration are essential but so is the final outcome, the place or moment the image is left to exist.

Taken in 2015 at a turtle sanctuary in Colima Mexico.

My name is Samuel Lemuel McGee and I am an artist from Omaha, Nebraska. I mostly work in painting, both physically and digitally. I enjoy drawing the most as that is how I started but I feel I can be more expressive with painting. This is one reason I enjoy digital painting because I get the feel of drawing while also having a splash of color and texture like a painting. I mostly paint physically during the school year and digitally in my free time. My last few paintings were made in 2019, it was a small series that started off as one planned painting being a tribute to my late grandmother while others were made unplanned and based off my artistic instinct. By the time I finished the last painting I realized they represented my inner feelings and mindset during that period. I hope to continue to grow as an artist finding new inspiration and ideas to execute.

I'm actually a stupidly romantic person. I'm also gay. So I like portraying gay people in love. I don't like it when these images are interpreted as two close platonic friends. I wanted the situation to be very clear here. These are two women who are dating.

Earlier when I started making an effort to get my work out into the hands of art lovers and collectors I worked on this body of work. Created between 2004 - 2009
The images are a recreation from my memories of my childhood growing up in Cameroon.
Before immigrating to the United States to pursue higher education.
My childhood was filled with plenty of vibrant experiences. My family lived in Douala (economic capital of Cameroon), but moved to various parts of cameroon..
Once I stepped foot in the States, as a teenager, like many, it was not easy adjusting. A new environment, I spoke the same English but it sounded different to the American ear. I had to make new friends all over again. The food was strange, and unfamiliar. Winters were long and extremely cold. Not to mention learning to navigating a new socio-racial political landscape. Becoming part of this new culture was going to be very challenging.
Once I found my place in art class it was on …. This series of work was me capturing what was lost or being lost in the process of my becoming Cameroonian-American.

I am a maker, a painter, and a builder. If it can be made I will find a way to do it. My experience thus far has been with the use of acrylic paints, watercolor, and epoxy resin for use in creating paintings and furniture, and of course wood! I continue to learn more and more every day and hope to have the opportunity to create for you, a piece that will last a lifetime in your own home.

The residue of reality, a memory. Indistinct layers of recorded and unrecorded personal history stack so closely together that they bleed onto one another. The events superpose and simplify through a process of collage that functions similar to constructed memory's fabricated, simplified, and overlapping experiences. The pressure of one another, changing the shape of each other, evolving with time. The result is a simulated version of reality.

Inspired by Devel Crisp's poem, "let's create something" ( put link to him reading the poem it's online somewhere)

My work explores relationships. Whether that is the forms and colors as they interact or the mediums used and the support they are on, it is all about connection and dissolution. Where things and people blend into each other or bend to avoid each other. Where forms are covering or scrapes reveal areas and structures. There are suggestions of landscape and humanish figures, but they are often alien-like; stand-ins for us where we live. The process and exploration are essential but so is the final outcome, the place or moment the image is left to exist.

This one is about the selfish nature of mankind. I decided to use imagery of a black bird, inspired by the images of the BP oil spill in 2010. Although this piece is talking about selfishness over our natural resources this is a concept that I extend to other aspects of life too.

Created by a budding artist by day and a focused student by night, Tateyna Jones.

I have worked in pyrography and acrylic for many years. I love the addition of the texture and smoke that working with a wood burning tool adds to the creative process. Birch is my preferred wood, but I have used many different types of surfaces. It is always interesting to try something new.

Under the soil, or in the shadows is often where brilliant and beautiful things begin. The origin story of ceramics goes something like this: anthropologists believe clay's unique properties were discovered by smearing wet clay on the inside of a basket to waterproof it, which was then placed over a fire. It became a hard and permanent stone-like shell of the initial vessel. To me, this is not unlike birds building nests, adding clay to strengthen and shape their vessels/architecture.
This tall-tale intrigues me like a campfire story about how beings acquire knowledge of the world around them and pass it on to others. We gather materials, we experiment with what we have, we learn from these investigations, and we invent new possibilities for these things. This way of learning is like a seed of an idea that will grow into a whole field of study. Like seeds, I choose to work with the color black as a point about origin or beginning.
These large shadowy sculptural vessels and tiny woven nests reference basketry in their textures and construction methods, but change scales and appearance of materials. The wall shields are compositions on their own, slightly concave to reference volume. They are visual statements rather than functional platters, still ceramic objects, but only referencing pots.
Each piece is developed with a volume emphasizing a full air-filled form- some more seed-like, nest-like, or egg-like. Most have narrow bases simply ending the volume in a way that lifts it off the table. They have subtle linear surface designs, with the geometry moving over the volumes in a way that is both stable and moving, like the systems of weaving. The three types of objects together show cut open spaces, solid strong walls, delicately woven grasses and twigs integrating weaving with the ceramic forms in more and less obvious ways.
The dark clay has a subtle surface, the decoration is equally felt as it is seen. The body of work includes metallic bronze-like surfaces, making viewers question the material and the strength or delicacy of the objects.
