Grace Lee Boggs, an American revolutionary, defined true wealth as the ability to relate to other human beings. In the pursuit of true wealth, I broke free from conventional figurative painting into figurative abstraction addressing the fluidity of personhood and the oneness of humanity. The non-identity of the figure allows it to be personally personified by the viewer. All of it, meaning who the figure BE, depends on projection. This surrender of personal narrative unto the uninformed opinion of the masses is synonymous to my every day in America. My hope is that the non-identity of my figure supports the ripple that erodes, dismantle the failures of social constructs built by colonial justice.
