The residue of reality, a memory. Indistinct layers of recorded and unrecorded personal history stack so closely together that they bleed onto one another. The events superpose and simplify through a process of collage that functions similar to constructed memory’s fabricated, simplified, and overlapping experiences.The pressure of one another, changing the shape of each other, evolving with time. The result is a simulated version of reality.

The festival is similar to mardi gras in that it is the weekend before Ash Wednesday at the beginning of the lenten season.

This little cowboy was part of a fundraising event for a dance group in Mexico. The dancers wear traditional clothing and learn traditional dances.

Under the soil, or in the shadows is often where brilliant and beautiful things begin. The origin story of ceramics goes something like this: anthropologists believe clay’s unique properties were discovered by smearing wet clay on the inside of a basket to waterproof it, which was then placed over a fire. It became a hard and permanent stone-like shell of the initial vessel. To me, this is not unlike birds building nests, adding clay to strengthen and shape their vessels/architecture.

I love everything full of color and life! My background is in the arts, specifically studio art and art history. With an experienced eye for design and color, I love to create work that is visually captivating and unique. I am a graphic designer and painter, but with careful thought they go hand in hand. My art is painted with intent, delivering pieces that I hope give the viewer the comfort of structure, along with the emotional release of abstraction.

On my first visit to Mexico I attended a traditional dinner including mariachis, dancers and home cooked food. At the venue this building sat empty. I found it very interesting.
